Guilherme Gama leaves Corinthians after seven years

Defender Guilherme Gama is no longer part of Corinthians' youth categories. The 17-year-old defender agreed to terminate his contract with the club from Parque São Jorge and officially said goodbye last Saturday (28) through a post on social media.

The departure was decided by mutual agreement between the player and Corinthians. Internally, the player assessed that he would have few opportunities to gain space in the Under-20 team and chose to seek new paths to continue his career. Even with the termination, the club retained a percentage of the defender’s economic rights for a future transfer.

According to information released by journalists in the field, the young player’s likely destination is Athletico-PR. The termination should be officially registered in the CBF’s Daily Information Bulletin (BID) in the coming days.

On his social media account, Guilherme Gama posted a farewell message after seven years defending the black-and-white club.

“Today I say goodbye to Sport Club Corinthians Paulista after seven years that marked my life. I arrived with dreams and leave more mature, grateful, and proud of everything I experienced wearing this shirt. There were days of struggle, learning, overcoming, and unforgettable moments on and off the field. I thank all the professionals, teammates, and the Fiel torcida, who were always by our side. I take with me friendships, lessons, and a story that will never be erased. Thank you for everything, Corinthians,” said the athlete in his Instagram post.

The defender rose to prominence at the beginning of 2025 in the club’s youth categories and even caught the attention of the coaching staff led by Ramón Díaz, becoming a closely watched alternative during that period. As the season went on, however, the player faced physical problems and lost his place in the team.

In the current configuration of Corinthians’ Under-20 squad, the starting center-back duo is Iago Machado and Lorenzo. Other options for the position include Yago Melo and Zé Antônio, while Pedro Paulo is still recovering from injury. In this scenario, Guilherme Gama was among the last alternatives for the position before finalizing his departure.
