Gustavo Henrique has drawn level as Corinthians’ most prolific centre-back of the decade after scoring his eighth goal in Wednesday’s Libertadores group win over Independiente Santa Fe.

According to Meu Timao, the defender now shares top spot with Cacá, who is on loan at Vitória until the end of 2026. Gustavo reached eight in 93 games, Cacá needed 72.

In January he moved into second when he opened the scoring in the 3-0 win over Ponte Preta at the Neo Química Arena on the opening weekend of the Campeonato Paulista. That took him past Gil, who has seven in 178 appearances since 2020.

Gustavo Henrique joined Corinthians at the start of 2024 during a squad overhaul. Under five different coaches he has started 89 times and supplied four assists.

This season the 33-year-old also struck with his knee at the Neo Química Arena, taking him into the club’s top three scorers for the campaign. André Luiz, with three, and Yuri Alberto, with five, are just ahead on that list.

He returns as an option for Fernando Diniz on Saturday at 20:00 at Barradão, when Corinthians visit Vitória in the 12th round of the Brasileirão.
