Gustavo Marques, on loan from Benfica to Red Bull Bragantino, is set to join the Brazilian club permanently for around €3.5m. According to Glorioso 1904, the move is expected to be concluded in the coming weeks.

The 24-year-old has been with the Paulista side since last summer and is now close to staying on a full-time deal.

He made only one first-team appearance for Benfica under Roger Schmidt in 2023/24. Back in Brazil he has played 45 games for Bragantino in 2025/26, scoring four goals.

Marques was recently handed a 12-match ban and a 30,000 reais fine by the São Paulo state sports tribunal after remarks deemed sexist towards referee Daiane Muniz following defeat to São Paulo. Bragantino also fined him half his salary and left him out of the next game, donating the amount to NGO Rendar, which supports vulnerable women in the region.

Any deal would give Benfica a useful return, as they own only 50 percent of his rights after paying about €1m to América Mineiro.
