After becoming the fastest ever player to reach 100 goals for any club in any league yesterday evening, Harry Kane spoke to Sky Germany about what it felt like to achieve his latest Bundesliga honor. Kane also revealed the secret of his success from the penalty spot and received special praise from Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany.
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund and Kane himself spoke on rumors of a return to England for the English national team captain. As Kane continues to smash Bundesliga records, the topic isn’t likely to go away. Will the time come for the 32-year-old to return to his native country and chase more records there?
“I’m not thinking about that at the moment,” Kane told Sky. “I’m really happy here at Bayern and I still have two years left on my contract. That’s where my focus lies. To be honest, I’m enjoying every single minute with the fans, the team, and the coach. I’m hoping for another good season and more titles.“
“There are a lot of rumors,” Freund added “When you see how comfortable Harry feels and how much fun he’s having, I hope he stays at FC Bayern for a long time to come.“
“Today, he once again played in line with his current feelings,” Kompany said. “And I’ll reiterate that the way he works – especially how he works defensively – is inactive of an inner-drive from many years of frustration without titles. If he now wins records and titles, then everything will be fine.“
“It’s an honor to score 100 goals for this great club,” Kane said of the record. “To achieve that so quickly, I’m very proud of that. Hopefully I can reach another 100 as soon as possible. It’s crazy [to reach such a record], even for me. I was told last week [about the penalty record].“
“There’s things behind it,” Kane said of another instance in which he converted from the penalty spot. “Control, a lot of practice, research, and video study. It’s not easy. You also has to learn how to deal with the pressure.“
