Maguire issues warning to rest of the Premier League after Man United’s win over Arsenal

Harry Maguire has said Manchester United’s win over Arsenal is “what the fans deserve”.

Matheus Cunha’s impeccable strike which sent the Emirates into a frenzy as Man United subjected Arsenal to their first home defeat of the season and took another three points under Michael Carrick.

After the match Maguire told Sky Sports: "The fans deserve it. It’s been a tough couple of years for them, and results like City [last week] and today are what they deserve.

"I thought the first 20 minutes, Arsenal started really well.

"They put us on the back foot, but we watched their game against Liverpool, and they did the same there.”

Arsenal seemed in control in the opening phases of the match, taking an early lead in in the first half.

However, after Dorgu sent United into the lead in the second half, Arsenal struggled to get back ahead, as Man United continued to shut down multiple opportunities for the Gunners, denying them chances from set pieces.

Maguire added: "Their biggest threat was set-plays. They managed to score one, and it was a scrappy goal to concede.

“Like I said, we have qualities that can hurt teams, and we did that today."

But it was Cunha who sealed the full three points for Manchester United in the 87th minute, denying Arsenal the opportunity to even take a point from the fixture after Merino equalised three minutes before.

On his experience scoring the winner, Cunha said: “This is the kind of game you dream of playing and being a part of.

“It was one hundred per cent one of my favourite moments in the shirt.”

Man United have now moved into fourth in the Premier League in just two games since Carrick took over as head coach.

After defeating both the first and second-placed teams, Man United will have the momentum heading into their home clashes against Fulham and Tottenham.
