Harry Redknapp has been talking about Newcastle United.
The former Spurs and Bournemouth boss discussing Eddie Howe and his team ahead of the next match.
Newcastle United at Anfield.
An 8.15pm kick-off on Wednesday night.
United set to face Liverpool.
Harry Redknapp talking to BetVictor ahead of Newcastle United playing away against Liverpool:
“How good were Liverpool on Sunday?
“I just thought they showed so much class and composure, they knew the significance of the game.
“Mohamed Salah will rightly get a lot of the plaudits, but I thought Virgil van Dijk was typically brilliant throughout.
“It was a game of two halves for Newcastle against Nottingham Forest, but they hung on for a vital three points.
“Obviously, this will be warm-up for the League Cup final, so it should be a good game, and I say it all the time, I always think of those classic 4-3 games when I see this fixture coming up.
I have to pick Liverpool, they look too good and too focused right now.
“Prediction: Liverpool 3 Newcastle 1.
“One to watch – Mohamed Salah is having one of the great individual seasons in Premier League history, what a player.”
Can’t disagree with a lot of what Harry Redknapp has had to say.
Newcastle United will have to play well if they are to get anything.
However, Liverpool have only won two of their last five matches, four of their last eight, so it isn’t like they are winning every match, as so many pundits want to make out
Liverpool are a very decent all round team and squad, however, as Harry Redknapp points out, both Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk are the real stand outs.
I haven’t really seen any mention of just how much luck Liverpool have carried as well though this season. I would say they deserve to be top but certainly the 11 points lead they have now, is only so big due to plenty matches where fine margins/luck have gone their way.
Massive luck as well in terms of keeping their very best players fit and available.
Summed up by the fact that both Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk have started every single one of Liverpool’s 27 Premier League matches so far. Whilst others amongst their best players have been available almost the entire time as well, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold who has been available for 26 of the 27 PL games so far.
They say luck evens itself out, so just maybe Liverpool might see things go against them at times in the remainder of the season, starting on Wednesday night hopefully. Whilst Sunday 16 March would be a good one for Salah and Van Dijk to find themselves unavailable for…
