Harvey Elliott for Anthony Gordon with a cash adjustment?

I don’t think there is any chance of Alexander Isak leaving Newcastle United any time soon, Liverpool and the rest may as well forget about it.

I am also an admirer of Anthony Gordon, having championed ‘Flash’ since he arrived at St James’ Park at the end of January 2023.

Anthony has since done very well for United and is a fan favourite.

He is a much improved footballer since he left Everton, intelligent and eloquent, I also believe it looks apparent that he really likes living in the North East.

So where am I going with this, I may hear you ask.

Well, for the last twelve months, similar to Wor Alex, Anthony Gordon has been regularly linked with a move back to his native Merseyside.

It was even claimed last summer in the media, that Gordon may have come close to leaving for Anfield when Newcastle United were struggling with PSR issues.

Since then, most of the stories that have been churned out about Gordon and Liverpool, have been instigated by the red scousers’ numerous and relentless social media platforms, plus more than a helping hand from the biased Liverpool Echo.

I now have a hunch though that Anthony Gordon may be the first blue chip player that is sacrificed to enable our club to progress.

I don’t like the idea of getting rid of our best players and we obviously don’t want to be seen as a selling club.

I also don’t want to strengthen one of our rivals and I literally cannot stand Liverpool for being one of Richard Masters’ and the EPL’s untouchables.

Gordon going to Liverpool now, could just be something that Eddie Howe may be agreeable to on certain conditions.

Harvey Elliott has been the star of the Under 21s European Championships, just like Anthony Gordon was in 2023.

After yet another massive transfer splurge Liverpool are overloaded in the midfield department, Harvey Elliott now finds himself even further behind in the pecking order.

It is now reported that he consider leaving Liverpool for more starting opportunities in the EPL, Eddie Howe claimed to be one of his admirers.

Newcastle’s transfer priorities are a right winger, goalkeeper, striker and right-sided central defender.

With Sean Longstaff and possibly Joe Willock moving on in this window, could bringing in Harvey Elliott be seen as realistic?

Can anyone else envisage Anthony Gordon joining his boyhood club and Harvey Elliott coming the other way with a hefty cash adjustment in our favour?

I think there is a distinct possibility that this might just happen.

This is just my own theory but would you personally be happy if it did occur? I would be interested to know what you think in the comments below.
