Stoke City supporters are excited by what they have seen so far from recent summer addition Luke Graham

Stoke City have made five additions to their squad this summer under the management of Mark Robins, with one having already gotten Potters supporters talking more than most.

Stoke are looking to finally end their dreadful run of finishing in the bottom half of whatever league they have played in over the past decade this time around, with head coach Mark Robins targeting key additions.

Five signings made their way to the Potteries before the club jetted off to Austria for their pre-season camp, in which they rounded out their stay in Vienna with a 6-0 win over two games against Sheffield Wednesday.

They would host Everton at the bet365 Stadium on Tuesday night, where Gabriel Kelly's goal would give the Potters a 1-0 win over Premier League opposition, though one player in particular has got supporters talking more than others, as both Queens Park Rangers and Rangers may have their heads in their hands.

Stoke would deploy two different XI's for either half as they hosted Everton, with the first 45-minute squad reflecting what their starting XI will more or less look like on the opening day at home to Swansea City, and the second XI each vying for a place in the side.

In that first half starting XI was Scottish centre-back Luke Graham, who was one of five additions already made this summer, alongside each of Joshua Griffiths, Djibril Soumare, Svante Ingelsson, and Ethan Galbraith.

Graham excelled in the Scottish Premiership last season for Dundee, making 32 league appearances for the club on the left side of defence, and sealed a £2 million switch to Stoke after his impressive displays.

The 22-year-old was the subject of strong interest from numerous clubs across the United Kingdom, as QPR saw a bid for the defender turned down last January, whilst Scottish giants Rangers were also heavily linked.

In the end, it would be a straight shootout between Stoke and Portsmouth for Graham's signature this summer, which the Potters would eventually come out on top in, as supporters at the bet365 Stadium on Tuesday night caught their first glimpse of the Scot in the flesh, and were overwhelmingly impressed.

To be described as a 'masterstroke' of a signing after just 45 minutes in a friendly game reflects the consensus of Stoke fans regarding Graham at the moment.

Echoing the words of a certain Harry Redknapp when describing Frank Lampard, Graham would do well to come close to replicating a career like the current Coventry City boss, but the Scot is showing the potential to go on and play at the very highest level already.

Graham looks like a complete modern-day centre-back, capable of excelling at all of the tasks required from him, and with him only likely to get better, Stoke could have a real gem on their hands here.

With Graham already winning over the majority of Stoke supporters from his 45-minute cameo, QPR and Rangers could come to regret not pushing harder for his signature this summer.

The Scot, who was thrust into the Scottish top flight with Dundee last year and excelled, displayed a calm and assured presence in the heart of defence, and looks to be nailed on to start Stoke's opening game of the season against Swansea.

With Maksym Talovierov, Ben Wilmot, Bosun Lawal, and Ben Gibson in waiting, Graham will more than likely partner one of those, as QPR and Rangers may have to accept their transfer blunder.

Under contract in the Potteries until the summer of 2030, Stoke could make a huge profit on the 22-year-old in the years to come, and could well become the envy of numerous clubs who missed out on his services.
