Fayza Lamari, the mother of Kylian Mbappé, has given a tell-all interview to L’Equipe Magazine, which wrote a feature on the France captain. Lamari, a former professional handball player, is Mbappé’s closest advisor. Lamari, who rarely gives interviews regarding his son, has provided an insight into the very personal life of Kylian Mbappé, including his less-reported struggles with everything that happens outside a football pitch.

Lamari shares a first anecdote from Mbappé’s time in school, where the already football-mad Kylian was reportedly not the easiest pupil to deal with. “In sixth grade, her teacher ordered him to take the door. He took her to the letter and he literally unhinged the door. I thought I was going to kill him…

Lamari also reveals that Mbappé does not hold a driving licence. “I told him to get it, just for him to be alone in a car. He couldn’t get it in Paris for security and organizational reasons“, Lamari said. His son reportedly told her that learning the traffic code would bore him. Mbappé’s mother also adds that, one day, Mbappé asked a friend of his to drive him around Paris’ ring road, “because he wanted to understand how the loop works. He’s weird.”

According to his mother, Mbappé suffers from not being able to live a normal life, given the superstar status he achieved at such a young age. “He’s 26, and he learned how to use a credit card only four years ago.
