Liverpool will make one more attempt to sign Alexander Isak before the transfer deadline on September 1.
The Reds have already tried to sign the Newcastle striker this summer - but saw their efforts rejected out of hand by Eddie Howe’s side.

Richard Hughes slid a £110m offer for Isak across Howe’s desk - but Newcastle were in no mood to talk business. Not only did the bid fall short on a monetary level - the Geordies had insufficient cover for their star attraction.
Having missed out on Hugo Ekitike, Joao Pedro and others, the North East side were trying to replace Callum Wilson and could not bear to think about losing Isak as well.
But there has been progress since then.
The Magpies have landed Nick Woltemade on a club-record fee - with the Germany international joining from Stuttgart on Saturday.
That still leaves them one player short of their ideal number - but there is no doubt that this is a good development for Liverpool.
Newcastle are still chasing Yoane Wissa - a very different player to Woltemade - and if they manage to get the Brentford man then we could see an Isak green light.
Newcastle insider Keith Downie has followed the Isak saga all summer and even he now admits that we are moving towards the endgame.
“Newcastle still want to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford — to play alongside Nick Woltemade,” he writes on X.
“NUFC won’t sign Woltemade & Jorgen Strand Larsen — too similar.
“Liverpool are now expected to come in with a Premier League record second offer for Alexander Isak, and the striker will get his wish…
“The dominoes are falling…”
