A huge Hollywood star is set for involvement with Sheffield Wednesday ahead of the 2026/27 season in League One...
Sheffield Wednesday have made a number of changes at the club since David Storch's takeover, with David Bruce appointed as chief executive in May, before Simon Wilson was installed as the Owls' new sporting director recently.
Getting the infrastructure right under David Storch could prove to be just as important as any signing Sheffield Wednesday make this summer. Recruiting the right people into key off-field roles, alongside building a strong coaching and recruitment structure, lays the foundations for sustained success.
Of course, they want a short-term fix right now, given that the immediate objective is an instant return to the Championship. However, the bigger picture is restoring Wednesday as a serious football club capable of competing in the upper reaches of English football for years to come.
This is a sleeping giant that has spent far too long away from the Premier League, and achieving that ambition will require smart leadership and stability behind the scenes as much as quality on the pitch.

Appointments like David Bruce and Simon Wilson mark significant additions to Arise Capital Partners’ jigsaw puzzle this summer, but there are also other concerns for the club over the coming season. Those concerns pertain to investment.
Leeds United have done an excellent job of boosting the club's global profile by attracting a number of high-profile minority investors. Hollywood actor Will Ferrell is perhaps the standout name, while fellow celebrities such as Russell Crowe and Paris Hilton have also bought into the club's ownership group.
Although these investors are unlikely to influence footballing decisions, they bring added exposure, commercial opportunities, and sometimes worldwide attention to the club. It is a model Sheffield Wednesday could benefit from exploring under Storch, particularly given the Owls' huge fanbase and history.
Attracting recognisable names could further strengthen the club's commercial appeal as they look to re-establish themselves among English football's biggest clubs. The South Yorkshire outfit look like making their first steps on this front, with The Star reporting the latest.
A Matthew McConaughey-owned brand is set to enter into partnership with the club. It is understood that Sheffield Wednesday are set for an agreement with Pantalones Organic Tequila, which is owned and co-founded by the Academy Award-winning actor and his wife Camila Alves.
The partnership will see the launch of a new hospitality experience for premium members through the creation of the Pantalones Suite, which is expected to occupy two redesigned executive areas within the South Stand. As part of wider efforts to strengthen the club's commercial operations, Wednesday have worked with both local and international businesses.
The redevelopment of the hospitality facilities forms part of a £6 million investment into upgrading Hillsborough and Middlewood Road, with projects spanning everything from improvements to the water supply through to an expanded range of premium matchday experiences for supporters.

The momentum surrounding Sheffield Wednesday is remarkable considering where the club found itself just a few months ago. Relegation to League One after a disastrous 2025/26 campaign that yielded just two league wins could easily have left supporters disillusioned, yet the opposite has happened since the Storch-led consortium completed its takeover.
Record season ticket sales are a clear indication of the renewed optimism around Hillsborough, with fans buying into the ambitious vision being put in place both on and off the pitch. The Star also report that membership details and matchday ticket prices are expected to be confirmed in the coming week or so, but there is a sense that those announcements will almost be secondary.
The feel-good factor around the club is so strong that supporters appear willing to embrace the new era regardless, with decisive transfer business thus far, infrastructure investment revealed regularly, and long-term planning providing everything they could have hoped for after years of uncertainty.
Hillsborough is the place to be and this kind of momentum needs to be harnessed on the pitch now, with something special perhaps on the cards if Wednesday can hit the ground running immediately next month when the league campaign begins.
