Facing WSG Tirol for a quarter-final spot

We are already in the next packed week of fixtures, with our Red Bulls gaining another chance for a confidence-boosting win. Tomorrow WSG Tirol are coming to the Red Bull Arena for the UNIQA ÖFB Cup last 16. Harald Lechner is to officiate with kick-off at 20:30 CET.

It isn't long since we last faced Wednesday's opponents - playing out a goalless draw on 22 September in Innsbruck. Tirol are not known for their goal threat, with the lowest-scoring attack in the league so far this season - nine goals in total, while they have two key attackers - Tobias Anselm and Lukas Hinterseer - out injured for the past few weeks. While our boys have comfortably made the last 16 with wins over FC Dornbirn and SC Wiener Viktoria thanks to a combined score of 10-0, Tirol have not found things quite so easy in the opening rounds. A 3-0 win over SC Imst was comfortable enough before a 4-2 success at SC Deutschlandsberg.

Attacker facing favourite opponents

The recent record is firmly in our Red Bulls' favour, with a goal difference of 24-1 from our last six Austrian Bundesliga home matches. We also have a definite Innsbruck expert in our ranks in Karim Konate. Our Ivorian, who we could call Mr WSG, boasts a better scoring ratio against the opponents than any other side, with 1.25 goals per match.

Incidentally, we will find out at the break who the winners will face in the next round, as the draw is to take place in the half-time break on the ORF live conference. Our match can be watched individually on ORF ON or ÖFB TV in Austria. Do you want to go to the game but don't have a ticket yet? Then click here:

WSG Tirol are a team we have already played in the league. We know they can be very dangerous. We want to do everything we can to make the quarter-finals! We will view tomorrow's match as a final and do everything we can to make it.

Pepijn Lijnders

We saw in our last match in Tirol that we have to be fully alert and totally concentrated. WSG play good and brave football, and it feels like they have nothing to lose against us. We know that though. We will do everything to achieve our aim and make the next round.
