Manchester United have signed goalkeeper Honor Solomon from Blackburn Rovers, it has been confirmed by the player’s agency.

Solomon’s career

Solomon joined Blackburn Rovers in 2021, having spent eight years with United’s cross-town rivals, Manchester City.

A modern-style goalkeeper who is comfortable with the ball at his feet, Solomon also boasts sharp reflexes and confident shot-stopping.

He primarily played for Blackburn Rovers’ Under-18 and Under-21 teams. This term, he has racked up six appearances across Premier League 2, the Premier League Cup and the National League Cup.

Solomon has conceded 11 goals in that period.

The 19-year-old was on the bench when Blackburn stunned United with a shocking 4-0 away win in October last year.

Solomon has gained valuable senior experience through loan moves, having spent time with Clitheroe and Atherton Collieries.

Now, it has emerged that Solomon has sealed a move to United.

United sign Solomon

The transfer has been confirmed by Solomon’s agency, Harwick Sports, on social media.

The sports agency uploaded a graphic to their Instagram page announcing that the goalkeeper is now part of United’s ranks.

They captioned the image with the message, “Congrats to @solhonor1 on his move to Manchester United. Big opportunity — all the best with the next step Sol.”

According to Rich Fay of the Manchester World, Solomon is poised to provide competition at Under-21 level.

His challenge for regular minutes will see him contend with Elyh Harrison, William Murdock, and Dermot Mee. Harrison recently returned to United after being recalled from his loan spell at League Two club Shrewsbury Town.

If he excels, Solomon could well find himself competing with Senne Lammens at the first-team level.

Meanwhile, Michael Carrick and his players return to action on Saturday when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford in the early kick-off.
