Andrés Gómez has emerged as Vasco’s key asset, his World Cup call-up further boosting his value. The forward featured in Colombia’s opener and is eyeing Saturday’s meeting with Portugal at 20:30, Brasília time, in Miami.
According to Globo.com, Vasco paid just over four point five million euros in January for 60 percent of his rights. CIES Football Observatory now values him at 11-13 million euros, near triple the outlay.
Despite a tight budget until the SAF is resolved, the club do not plan to sell. There have been enquiries from abroad but no official bids. Vasco are preparing for possible post-World Cup interest.
Gómez and his family are settled in Rio de Janeiro, aiding retention. The plan is to maximise him in the second half after Renato Gaúcho’s exit, following a strained spell with the Colombian group.
Under contract until 2031, he is a flagship of the current regime. His rise and call-up are being used to attract reinforcements, especially from overseas. The latest case is Deossa of Betis, with hopes to conclude.
Vasco have become a shop window for Colombians. Carlos Cuesta earned a recall after arriving and, like Johan Rojas, made Colombia’s provisional list. The profile helped land Marino Hinestroza and will again be used in the second window.
Talks with SAF judicial intervener Samantha Longo will shape recruitment. Deossa’s deal will be tested financially, the sporting work by Admar is done, talks with Betis are advanced, and any move needs the intervener’s approval.
