Inter Milan could turn to Aleksandar Stankovic as a long-term replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu if Galatasaray reignite their interest, with the club already laying the groundwork for a possible midfield transition.
Following Cristian Chivu’s glowing words about Stankovic in his recent press conference, Tuttosport has outlined how the midfielder’s future could soon come back into focus at San Siro.
The Serbian starlet, an Inter academy product, joined Club Brugge, where his performances in both the Belgian Pro League and the Champions League have attracted growing attention.
Inter secured a buy-back clause when sanctioning his move last summer, set at €23 million.
That figure would effectively be reduced by the €10m already paid by Brugge, making the operation far more accessible.

According to Tuttosport, Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio would be open to triggering the clause if the squad balance demands it.
That scenario becomes increasingly relevant given the uncertainty surrounding Hakan Calhanoglu. The Inter playmaker remains a key target for Galatasaray, who could return with a concrete offer next summer.
Reports suggest a fee in the region of €15m could be enough to prise him away, creating room for reinvestment.
In that context, Stankovic’s return would make both sporting and financial sense. Inter would regain a midfielder already familiar with the club’s identity, while also refreshing the squad with a younger profile capable of growing into a central role over time.
