After more than four months at Drogheda United, Walsall loanee Jago Godden has adapted to a deeper midfield role and produced two goals and two assists.

ExpressAndStar.com reports that the 22-year-old joined Walsall in February, then went straight to the Trivela-linked club on loan after impressing at Bedford Town.

He arrived from New Zealand in November 2025, hit three in his first four for Bedford and left with four in 11 when Walsall moved in. He had previously operated as a No 8 for Christchurch United.

At Drogheda he has largely dropped into a double pivot under Kevin Doherty.

He came off the bench to win his debut 1-0 at Galway United in early February, featured as a substitute in his first five league games, then started six in a row.

He added another against Galway in early April and assisted in a recent 4-1 loss at Shamrock Rovers. He has also come off the bench in four of the past nine and set up a goal in the latest draw with Waterford.

Walsall hold a recall option before pre-season, but there is nothing yet to suggest it will be used. The focus is on minutes in Ireland, a plan that was disrupted for Elicha Ahui by an ACL injury last term. Godden signed an 18-month deal in January with an option year, and Trivela hope the link between the clubs begins to bear fruit.
