FLW reveals AI’s prediction of how many points the Sky Blues will get on their return to the top-flight.
Coventry City confirmed their place back in the Premier League last week.
A battling 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers was enough to see the Sky Blues end their 25-year exodus from the big time, as Bobby Thomas’ late header cancelled out Ryoya Morishita’s effort to spark pandemonium in the away end.
It was far from a pretty performance from Frank Lampard’s men, but they’ve finally got the job done, and will be aiming to put the cherry on top of the cake by securing the Championship title in their final three games of the campaign.
Coventry have been the standout side throughout the 2025-26 term, with promotion three years in the making after suffering two heartbreaking experiences in the play-offs under both Lampard and predecessor Mark Robins.
But now the West Midlands outfit can look forward to some of the biggest names in the world of football travelling to the CBS Arena, and will be hopeful that they can be the latest club to survive on their return to the promised land.
Of course, the likes of Sunderland and Leeds United are set to remain in the Premier League after gaining promotion out of the second tier, so there’s proof it can be done, provided the player recruitment is spot on.
While it will be a tough introduction, Coventry will be looking to defy the odds and show they have the quality to remain one of the top 20 teams in the country, and it proves to be an enthralling watch to see how they perform.
And with this in mind, FLW has asked AI to predict how many points Coventry will earn on their return to the Premier League.

There’s no doubt Coventry City will be up against it to secure Premier League survival, but AI’s prediction backs them to go very close.
It has predicted the Sky Blues will earn 36 points in their first season back in the top-flight, which could well be enough to see them remain in the big time for at least another year.
A big reason for this prediction is Frank Lampard’s influence on the team, with the 47-year-old possessing vital Premier League experience from stints at both Chelsea and Everton. Knowing how to navigate the Premier League, AI believes he won’t be star-struck by the bigger clubs and will help the squad keep its composure in big games.
AI has also backed Coventry to earn most of their points on home soil, with the Sky Blues’ form at the CBS Arena paramount to mounting a survival bid. Provided they can recruit a proven top-flight goalscorer and have a watertight backline, Coventry should be able to grind out some precious 1-0 victories against mid-table opponents.
AI, of course, puts all this prediction down to Coventry building the right type of squad to take on the challenge of competing with the very best sides, with recruitment in the summer a big indicator as to how Coventry’s season will unfold.
There’s no way to tell whether 36 points would be enough to keep the Sky Blues in the Premier League though, with 40 points normally the magic number to ensure survival.

With this group of Coventry City players going down in club folklore by restoring the Sky Blues’ place in the Premier League, there is a tendency to be sentimental and hand the majority of the group the chance to shine in the top-flight.
But at this stage, the club has to be ruthless if it is to establish itself as top-flight regulars. While some players may well be good enough, plucking players with Premier League experience has to be the priority, particularly as the gulf between the second tier and the top flight is continuing to grow.
Big spending on quality players was demonstrated by Sunderland, who managed to secure the likes of Granit Xhaka, Nordi Mukiele, Robin Roefs and Brian Brobbey to their squad - all who have gone onto play a major part in the Black Cats’ surge towards the top-half of the table.
Some players from their Championship promotion campaign have gelled well with the rest of the group like Dan Ballard, Luke O’Nien and Enzo Le Fee though, so it proves that with the right balance, survival is certainly achievable.
Therefore, owner Doug King will have to put his money where his mouth is and significantly back Frank Lampard, with the onus needing to be on bringing in tried and tested players who still have what it takes to thrive at the top level.
With the money and the correct recruitment, Coventry can certainly have a good shot at defying the odds to stay in the Premier League, and if they could do it, it would be yet another remarkable achievement for a club who has been on a sharp rise over the last few years.
