Season tickets are now available at Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland, and here's how much the clubs will be charging for a baseline ticket.
With the 2024/25 season now over, fans of Leeds United, Burnley and Sunderland will be starting to look forward to a fresh beginning in the Premier League.
Season ticket sales are a vital source of revenue for clubs, generating millions of pounds every year.
But promotion, and especially to the Premier League, will bring some degree of trepidation on the part of fans of Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland at the prospect of price increases.
With this in mind, FLW has worked out what the baseline price for a season ticket will be for each of the three clubs promoted from the Championship and how much they're increasing by.
But it's worth bearing in mind that many clubs offer 'early bird' prices to those who renew before a certain date, and that clubs can have very different ways of arranging their season ticket sales.
Leeds United announced their season ticket prices for 2025/26 at the end of March, and it wasn't particularly good news for fans.
The baseline price for an adult season ticket at Elland Road is increasing by 14% to just under £495, up from £434 the season before.
The matter is confused slightly by the fact that these increases will not be uniform around the whole of the stadium.
The club has been seeking to equalise its pricing structures for different parts of the ground, and this summer sees the number of available "tiers" reducing from three to two. It's been reported that "the increase marks the third rise in 12 years".
The other club automatically promoted at the end of the 2024/25 season, Burnley, announced that season ticket prices would be frozen for the 2025/26 season as long ago as December, saying that they "were keen to share our plans with the fans as early as possible and freezing season ticket prices for next season is our way of saying thank you for their extraordinary support".
This means that the cheapest season ticket to Turf Moor remains £352, which represents no increase in the cost of the overall ticket itself, though the match-by-match cost increases because it will cover fewer games in the Premier League than it did in the Championship, 19 versus 23.
As a club playing at a high level of the game, but representing a town with a population of just 80,000 people, Burnley have long had to keep their prices lower than other clubs.
The Black Cats had an early bird deal for renewals which knocked thirty pounds off this amount, but the baseline price for a season ticket now at the Stadium of Light is £490, an increase of 11% on the previous year. Sunderland have three tiers of pricing for their season tickets, with the other more expensive tiers costing £610 and £680 for new purchases.
Season ticket sales arrangements can get extremely complicated, and it's worth remembering that like-by-like comparisons between clubs will always have differences between them. But what we can see from these prices alone is that the trend tends to remain that football is continuing to become more expensive, especially as clubs reach the Premier League.
