Southampton have set their price tag for Caspar Jander as Dutch giants Ajax circle alongside a Bundesliga duo.

Southampton are a Championship club with numerous Premier League quality players, despite a frustrating season under Will Still and Tonda Eckert so far.

The Saints are looking to continue an upward trajectory with the 33-year-old as their new head coach after a successful interim spell, albeit with some teething problems in December and early January where they went winless in six league games.

Eckert was brought in as the head coach of the U-21 team in the summer, but after Will Still was dismissed in early November, the German was handed the reins on an interim basis.

The 22-year-old German midfielder joined the club in the summer from 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Nurnberg, who are managed by Miroslav Klose. He has shown flashes of quality, with two goals in his 29 appearances so far.

However, he was hooked at half-time by Eckert and on a yellow card, with his replacement scoring the winner late on. Shea Charles is one of many with potential to become Premier League quality.

Despite Jander's mixed start to life at St. Mary's, he has serious interest higher up the footballing ladder. Dutch giants Ajax are joined by Bundesliga duo RB Leipzig and VfB Stuttgart as interested parties.

The latest comes from Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, who states they are monitoring his situation and that he is "one to watch" ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Southampton midfielder is reportedly ready to take the next step and Jander's current price valuation is between €15-25 million, which is around £13-22 million.

Jander collected an assist for Nurnberg earlier this season, with Southampton sealing a deal for him late in the window on a four-year contract for around £10.4 million (BBC Sport).

He has played 29 times for the club, with 26 of those coming as starts since his arrival. However, there is stern competition in midfield and he will want to put the Leicester game behind him swiftly.

The 22-year-old has already been on the move plenty in his early career, but a return to Germany could be on the cards if his current side don't immediately return to the Premier League. Southampton are now ninth and just a point behind Wrexham in sixth.
