How much Vasco earned from Andrés Gómez at the World Cup

Colombia, with Andrés Gómez, bowed out on Tuesday in Vancouver, losing to Switzerland on penalties after a 0-0 draw in the last 16. The forward was Vasco’s only representative.

According to Globo.com, FIFA pays a daily fee of 5,000 dollars, about R$ 25.8 thousand, from 1 June until the day after elimination for each player on the official squad. Gómez was among Néstor Lorenzo’s 26 selections.

That entitlement will bring Vasco about 185,000 dollars, roughly R$ 956,000.

Gómez featured only once, coming on late against Uzbekistan in the group opener on 17 June. He played around eight minutes.

He remained on the bench for the next four matches. Competition for the wide roles was strong, with Luis Díaz and Jhon Arias starting, and Lorenzo turning to Campaz, Jhon Córdoba and Luis Suárez for attacking changes thereafter.
