Attempts to raise funds are under way and have revealed a shocking statistic about the club.

Wrexham have set their valuation at up to £350 million as they consider selling a stake in the club in order to raise funds.

All the sponsorship deals and huge incomes for the respective divisions that they have been in are all well and good. Ultimately, to get to where they want to be - the Premier League - Wrexham were always going to have to bring more outside investment into the club.

Their community executive, Humphrey Ker, has admitted that he has told the Red Dragons' Hollywood owners, Rob McElHenney and Ryan Reynolds, as much, and also revealed that they have had multiple billionaires who've enquired about coming on board with their mega project in north Wales.

Wrexham set £350 million valuation

Given this claim, it shouldn't be hard for them to find new investors. What will raise eyebrows more is the price that they think the club is worth: £350 million ($475 million), according to Bloomberg. Wrexham are trying to bring in more money to help with their Championship recruitment drive as well as upgrading their home ground, the Racecourse.

The outlet said that it isn't clear whether McElhenney and Reynolds, who bought the then-National League outfit from its supporters trust for £1, according to The Athletic, will be able to convince investors to take the plunge to such financial depths.

Any investment at this rate would make them by far and a way the most expensive club in the second tier. For context, Sheffield United, who were in the Premier League when Wrexham were in League Two, were sold for £111 million last season.

A similar valuation point was set when Wrexham's most recent investors, the Allyn family, acquired close to 15% of the club at around a £100 million valuation. That was earlier this year, which makes you wonder how the club has more than tripled in price since the beginning of 2025.

£350 million is a lofty price tag to put on Wrexham

Wrexham have had astonishingly good revenues during their tenure of Hollywood ownership. In the 2023/24 campaign, when they were in League Two, they made £20 million in commercial revenue alone; more than some Premier League clubs. Their total revenue was £26 million, and that's expected to jump to between £30-40 million for the season just gone, and then to £50 million in the upcoming term, as per Bloomberg.

Those are admittedly astonishing numbers for a team that was playing outside of the EFL just a few years ago. Deals with Disney, TikTok, United Airlines and other major companies have helped to rocket Wrexham to three successive promotions - something that no team has ever achieved in English football.

But, if you were an investor looking to get involved with Wrexham, and you saw what the Alynn family got for their money, would it make sense to then go in at such a higher amount than it was just a matter of months ago? For those who, it could be argued, have more money than sense, sure. Why not hop aboard the train and see where the ride takes you?

That doesn't make this staggering spike in valuation logical, or potentially justifiable, though.
