Nottingham Forest have been linked with Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall as they plan for Elliot Anderson’s possible exit to Manchester City. There is no vacancy yet, but replacing Anderson would be a major task.

Bergvall is with Sweden at the World Cup and has reportedly told Spurs he wants to leave this summer. He has played only 112 minutes under Roberto De Zerbi, and with Tottenham seeking experience in midfield he could seek a fresh start.

Forest explored midfield options in January, trying and failing for Celtic’s Arne Engels and Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi. Aston Villa and Chelsea looked at Bergvall then, and a fee of around £45-50 million has since been mooted.

Signed from Djurgarden in 2024, Bergvall has made 78 Spurs appearances. He was named the club’s player of the year after a standout first season under Ange Postecoglou.

The numbers show the scale of any Anderson replacement. In 2025/26 he played 3,334 league minutes with four goals and four assists, winning a league-high 297 duels, regaining possession 306 times and taking 3,300 touches.

Across 966 league minutes, Bergvall managed one goal and three assists. Anderson produced eight goal involvements to Bergvall’s four, attempted 2,383 passes to 305 and nine through-balls to three, plus more tackles, interceptions and blocks.

Anderson is three years older and played more, which frames any comparison. Even with limited minutes, Bergvall has Premier League experience and room to grow, and could appreciate in value if the price is right.
