According to Globo.com, Flamengo finally have a FIFA-window stretch for rest and work under Leonardo Jardim, to align processes and embed his methodology.

Players not on international duty were given time off, since Jardim arrived there had been only one rest day with morning reporting after night games. They now have three days off, Monday, Tuesday and Saturday.

Jardim arrived on 3 March and has averaged about three days of preparation between fixtures. He has taken five matches, three wins and two draws, lifting the Campeonato Carioca on debut in the final.

The 10-day pause gives space to reinforce and implement ideas.

This is the last stop before the World Cup in June. Before then, Flamengo face 18 games across the Libertadores group stage, the Copa do Brasil fifth phase and 10 rounds of the Brasileirão.

Lucas Paquetá was not called up and still hopes to make the World Cup. The break can refine his positioning and role after tests under Filipe Luís, and Jardim has used him in varied roles. He scored against Corinthians.

Bruno Henrique, recovering from pubalgia, is expected to rejoin training in the coming days and could be available against Red Bull Bragantino on 2 April or Santos on 5 April. He has not played since 26 February’s Recopa Sudamericana decider against Lanús, missing six games. Jorginho should benefit from the pause, while Arrascaeta has been called up. Fringe players and under-20s aim to impress, with Jardim planning to use the academy.
