How to watch Gotham FC and Seattle Reign FC in another home road game | OneFootball

It was only a few days ago that NJ/NY Gotham FC had one of the best days in the club’s history.  The heat and poor air quality did not keep over 42,000 fans away from the Queens Classic.  It was a full day of soccer, full of pregame festivities, a World Cup watch party, and then the actual match itself.  Most importantly, the Bats treated Citi Field to a win over the Washington Spirit.

Nevertheless, the joy of that game must be pushed aside, for Gotham FC must focus on the next match.  The ladies will host Seattle Reign FC, but like the game in Queens, they will be away from their usual home.  While Citi Field felt like a home fixture, the one at Icahn Stadium might not feel that way.  The Randalls Island venue holds only 5,000 people, so not many fans will be able to attend.  The difference between the two games will be vast, so the Reign might try to take advantage of playing in a more neutral site.

But Gotham has not lost to Seattle since April 2023, winning four and drawing three games in all competitions since then.  And more recently, the Bats won against the team on the road.  As such, recent history favors the “home” team.  They know that they do not necessarily need the crowd that they had on Wednesday to beat the Reign.

It would be nice, though, for the NJ/NY team to earn another three points.  After all, they are just one point away from tying with the top team, San Diego Wave FC, who beat them on July 4, so a win would see them go over the Wave in the standings if the California side fails to win on Friday.  And it should not matter where they play, for Gotham FC knows how to win in many different stadiums.

Final notes

It really is a short turnaround for Gotham FC after playing a night game on Wednesday, to now playing an early afternoon fixture on Saturday.  It is likely that the team should see some rotation from the Queens Classic win.
