Blues still sweating over Reece James’ fitness ahead of cup clash
It is an emotionally loaded match for Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior, who returns to a club he has represented as both a player and a manager.
He spent five years with Hull as a player, making 161 appearances, before returning to take on his first full-time managerial role in 2022.
He finished second in the FA Cup as a player with the Tigers but had less luck in the dugout, departing after two seasons and later joining BlueCo’s Strasbourg.
He heads back to Humberside in need of a win after Chelsea gave up a 2-0 lead to draw with Leeds on Tuesday night, putting some slapstick defending on display in the process.
The Blues are expected to be without Marc Cucurella for the match, though, with Reece James also a doubt for the trip.
