Reds are almost into the last 16
Liverpool head into their final Champions League game with one foot in the last 16.
Arne Slot’s side take on Qarabag this evening knowing that a single point could be enough to see them safely into the knockout stages, but a win would guarantee their place in the top eight.
The Reds are fourth in the Champions League table, two points clear of the chasing pack.
They registered a 3-0 win over Marseille in their last outing at the Orange Velodrome, and that victory has left them in a strong place going into the final matchday.
A 3-2 defeat in stoppage time at Bournemouth could have hit their confidence somewhat, however, with their top-four hopes in the Premier League suffering a hammer blow on the Dorset coast.
Manchester United took full advantage on Sunday, beating league leaders Arsenal 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium to leapfrog their fierce rivals.
The Merseysiders come into this game with a serious injury crisis in central defence, with Ibrahima Konate having missed the last two games for personal reasons, while Joe Gomez was taken off in the Bournemouth defeat with another injury.
Conor Bradley and Alexander Isak are longer-term absentees, while Federico Chiesa’s fitness levels are up in the air after he missed the Marseille and Bournemouth trips.
