Pep Guardiola hoping to keep the pressure on in the title race

Manchester City have another chance to trim Arsenal’s lead in the Premier League this evening as they host Nottingham Forest at the Etihad.

The Gunners’ advantage stands at five points ahead of Wednesday night’s matches, but, given their match against Brighton will take place simultaneously with City’s, the lay of the land in the title race could look very different by Thursday morning.

Of course, all Pep Guardiola can do is keep the pressure on and wait for Arsenal to slip up, but he will be confident of claiming all three points against Forest.

City come into the affair having won five of their last six league outings, and won the reverse fixture comfortably thanks to goals from summer signings Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki.

Forest, meanwhile, could find themselves in the drop zone by the end of the night, should they lose at the Etihad and see West Ham beat Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Vitor Pereira has yet to noticeably affect his side’s form. He won on debut with the side after replacing Sean Dyche, beating Fenerbahce 3-0 in the Europa League, but has not won since, tasting defeat against Liverpool and Fulham, and in the second-leg against Fenerbahce.
