Nottingham Forest host Manchester United as the Premier League returns after the international break. Forest go into the game knowing a win would put them only one point behind Arsenal.

Ruben Amorim’s side have been in strong form of late, losing one of their last nine games. Forest won the first meeting between these two sides this season, and another win would replicate a feat that has not happened since 1992.

Recent form

As previously mentioned, United are in good recent form. One loss in their last nine, unbeaten in the last seven. Granted, they haven’t had the most difficult fixtures, but they did also manage a draw against Arsenal in that period, as well as a big 4-1 win over Real Sociedad.

Forest are also in strong form, unbeaten in their last five. They will also still be riding the high of progressing into the semi-final of the FA Cup. The only negative for Nuno Espírito Santo is that they will be without their star striker Wood.

What’s been said?

Amorim: “I don’t know which place we are going to finish in but we are looking up and we want to win games. And, with this, we still have matches to finish in a different position. Like you said before, we are with more confidence so we are looking to win games and that is our focus at the moment.”

Santo on the quick turn-around after the FA Cup: “It’s very difficult on the players, but they are recovering well. They are always positive, so we are confident we can perform against a good team.”
