Man Utd bidding to end turbulent week by reaching FA Cup fourth round
Manchester United begin another FA Cup campaign with a third round tie at home to Brighton this afternoon.
Man Utd, the second most successful team in the competition’s history, will be setting out to claim the trophy for a second time in three seasons and the journey begins at Old Trafford.
It has been a whirlwind week for United as they sacked head coach Ruben Amorim on Monday and placed Under-18’s manager Darren Fletcher in temporary charge for the Premier League draw with Burnley.
As there has been no announcement with regard to appointing a permanent or interim head coach, Fletcher will oversee today’s cup tie at home to Brighton and his task is to ensure United are in the hat for tomorrow’s fourth round draw.
As for the Seagulls, they are back in Manchester just four days after holding Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League.
That point made it three unbeaten, though Brighton have only won once in their last eight.
The league meeting between these two sides back in October produced six goals and there’s every chance another entertaining showdown on the cards at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.
