Tom Brady revealed his delight as Birmingham City's plans for a new Sports Quarter moved a step closer.
Birmingham City minority owner Tom Brady believes the club are ‘on the rise’ as their planned Sports Quarter moved a step closer following investment into local transport from the Chancellor.
The NFL legend has been a part of Blues since the US group led by Tom Wagner completed their takeover of the club in 2023.
On the pitch, the aim is clear, with Blues desperate to reach the Premier League, and they will be targeting a second successive promotion under Chris Davies next season.
The boss was backed considerably last summer to build a team capable of winning League One, and further support in the market is anticipated over the next few months.
But, the hierarchy at Birmingham aren’t restricted to just investing in transfers, as they have huge plans for the entire club.
They bought land for a new stadium last year, and the overall aim is to build a Sports Quarter that would involve a 60,000 capacity stadium, community pitches and further high-level facilities.
However, Wagner insisted that they would only proceed with that if they received backing from the government, and specifically improving the transport links. That support came this week, so work on the project is set to start.
Naturally, it was very exciting for all connected to Blues, and Brady took to Instagram to react to the news, as he stated ‘Birmingham City on the rise’.
This is great news for Birmingham, and fans will be so pleased with how their fortunes have changed since Wagner, Brady and the group bought the club.
Clearly, the aim is to make Blues a force in English football, and whilst it may seem a long way away, the owners have shown they are very serious and ambitious in their bid to reach the highest level.
This update is the latest example of that, and even though it may seem a long way away, it will help the local community by creating jobs, and it will transform the football club when it’s complete.
Of course, to fulfil those ambitions, Blues need to be a Premier League club, so that is the most important thing. Therefore, the summer will be about backing Davies, and after their spending spree 12 months ago, it will be intriguing to see who arrives at St. Andrew’s ahead of the new season.
