Hulk signs for Fluminense, will play only after World Cup

Hulk has joined Fluminense after Atlético Mineiro released him six months early. He will not feature until after the World Cup, which runs from 11 June to 19 July.

According to L'Équipe, the 39-year-old forward signed on Tuesday on a contract running to 31 December 2027.

Because he cannot be registered with a new team in Brazil until the transfer window opens, 22 July against RB Bragantino could be his first appearance.

The former Brazil international has 49 caps and 11 goals. He returned home in 2021 after spells in Japan, Porto, Zenit St Petersburg and China.

Across five years with Atlético Mineiro, he remained a leading figure, noted for his powerful free-kicks.
