Hull City are racing to avoid a potential PSR breach that could bring a points deduction before the Premier League season starts.
According to Sunderland Echo, the newly promoted club aim to raise around six million pounds from player sales by the end of June to remain compliant.
The Tigers returned by beating Middlesbrough in last month’s Championship play-off final, their first top-flight season since 2016-17. PSR currently allows losses up to £39 million over three years. The Championship will adopt a squad cost ratio this summer, up to 85 per cent of revenue, but Hull must still satisfy existing rules this month.
Failure to comply could lead to disciplinary action. Hull were placed under a two-window transfer fee embargo last summer after late payments on loan deals.
Owner Acun Ilicali said the club have overspent and must sell before 1 July, but called the task manageable and noted Premier League status has lifted player values. He added some players already know they will not feature.
Hull are not expected to offload their biggest names at this stage, with fringe players likelier to depart. Mason Burstow, Kasey Palmer, Abu Kamara, Enis Destan, Abdus Omur, Thimothee Lo-Tutala and David Akintola could attract interest.
Sunderland and other newly promoted or lower-half sides will watch closely, given the potential implications for the early survival picture.
