Hull City beat Middlesbrough 1-0 at Wembley as Oliver McBurnie's stoppage time winner sealed the Championship play-off final and promotion to the Premier League.
In the fifth minute of second half stoppage time, McBurnie swept in after Sol Brynn spilled Yu Hirakawa's low cross into the six-yard area.
Hull went closest before the interval when McBurnie's diving header crashed off the bar, moments after Brynn tipped over a Lewie Coyle effort. After the restart, Boro pressed, with Dael Fry nodding a corner over and John Egan making a crucial interception.
Ivor Pandur later thwarted Sontje Hansen, though the flag was up. Jakirovic's changes added thrust down the flanks, with Hirakawa twice delivering dangerous balls, the decisive one forcing the late error.
With eight minutes added, Hull stood firm through a frantic finale, and Luke Ayling's block denied Matt Crooks a clincher in the dying seconds.
Boro dominated the ball, finishing with 67.6% possession and 13 attempts but none on target. Hull produced nine attempts and two on target from 32.4% possession.
The result returns Hull to the Premier League for the first time in nine years. McBurnie is now on 18 Championship goals, second in the competition's scoring chart. Boro are left to regroup after a painful finish at Wembley.
