“I think the best thing for everyone is a transfer”: Álvarez tells Atlético he wants out amid Barça, PSG, Arsenal interest | OneFootball

Julian Alvarez has said he wants to leave Atletico Madrid this summer with Europe's top teams battling to sign the forward.

Alvarez has gone public in his desire for a transfer this summer and revealed he has informed Atletico of his wish to leave the club.

Real Madrid had a €150m bid for Alvarez turned down earlier in the summer, while Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal have all expressed interest in the Argentine.

Though Alvarez did not reveal his preferred destination, it's believed Barcelona are the frontrunners for a deal. TheLa Liga champions are seeking a centre-forward following the exit of Robert Lewandowski, and have made Alvarez their top target.

The 26-year-old has scored 49 goals in 106 games for Atletico since signing for the club from Manchester City in 2024.

Speaking after Argentina's 2-0 win over Austria at theWorld Cup on Monday, Alvarez said he did not 'want to hide' his feelings on a summer transfer.

"I don't think it's the right moment to talk, but I also don't want to hide," Álvarez toldESPN's Martin Arevalo.

"I try to be an honest person. I spoke with the people at [Atlético] who I needed to speak with. I think the best thing for everyone is a transfer. I want to fulfil my dream."

Atletico have been public in their desire to keep Alvarez, reacting to interest from Spanish rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid with a series of social media messages.
