Ibrahima Konaté sent home from international duty

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté has returned from international duty early due to fitness concerns.

The 26-year-old watched on from the bench as France defeated Azerbaijan in Paris on Friday night but will take no further part in his national team’s international break.

Injury concerns have meant that Konaté has been sent back to Merseyside and will be a concern for Arne Slot ahead of the Premier League clash with Manchester United on October 19th.

With Giovanni Leoni already out for a lengthy spell, Konaté's absence could be a headache as the champions look to get back to winning ways after three straight defeats in all competitions.

Konaté has played 10 games for Liverpool this season but was withdrawn early into the second half of the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea last time out.
