Illan Meslier could be in line for a move to Arsenal after leaving Leeds United, with the Premier League champions showing strong interest, according to BBC Sport.
The 26-year-old’s contract expired on June 30, making him a free agent after seven seasons at Elland Road and virtually all of his senior career spent there.
Meslier joined from Lorient as a 19-year-old and made 215 appearances for Leeds, including 107 in the Premier League.
He did not feature last season, falling behind Lucas Perri then Karl Darlow in Daniel Farke’s pecking order.
Two weeks ago he confirmed his departure in a social media post, thanking the club and city and saying Leeds would always be part of him. Free to pick his next step, Arsenal have emerged as a possible back-up option to David Raya, with uncertainty over Kepa Arrizabalaga’s future.
