Illan Meslier was at Arsenal’s training ground yesterday to finalise his move, according to the Daily Mail.

The Gunners are set to sign the 6ft 7in Frenchman as a free agent after he left Leeds United last week, and he is hoping the move reignites his career.

The 26-year-old is set to become the Gunners’ second-choice goalie, with Kepa Arrizabalaga exploring a move away and available to leave if his £5 million clause is activated.

Meslier underwent his medical tests during his visit to the Sobha Realty Training Centre on Tuesday.

He will hope to provide quality cover and competition for David Raya.

Meslier could be announced this week and become Arsenal’s second summer signing after Piero Hincapie’s loan from Bayer Leverkusen was made permanent in a £34.5m deal.

Arsenal want to retain the Premier League title next season after last term’s triumph.

They are also desperate to go one better in the Champions League after losing last season’s final to Paris Saint-Germain.

The ongoing World Cup has prevented clubs from completing transfer deals as quickly as they would have wanted.

The tournament ends later this month, and the Gunners are expected to step up their activity afterwards.
