Jobe Bellingham initially found regular starts hard to come by at Borussia Dortmund following his move from Sunderland last summer, but he has started the vast majority of matches since the turn of the year.

In an interview with Borussia Dortmund’s official club channel, Bellingham reflected on his first season in Germany and explained how much he has benefited from a regular run in the team.

“When you're playing games, you start to feel a better rhythm. When young players get to have a run of games in the team, you see them develop. Even if it means you might fail at first, you get to figure out your game, your teammates, the formation, the way you play, the style and the stadium," said Bellingham, who remains committed to BVB for the long term after signing a contract until 2030 last summer.

"You gain rhythm the more you play, and I feel like I've certainly been able to build confidence and more of a presence by playing more. I'm going to be here for a long time, so I'm happy that I'm building that rhythm.”

The England U21 international is keen to keep developing and take his game forward.

“I have an internal purpose. Every day i want to get better. every game I lay i want to win, get on the ball, show what I can do, phyiscally , technically show what I'm capable of," said Bellingham, who is working on building a particular part of his game.

“I have an internal purpose. Every day I want to get better. I want to win every game I play, get on the ball and show what I can do – physically and technically,” said Bellingham, who is working on adding more attacking output to his game.

“I definitely want to get forward and contribute in the final third more. That's something I tell myself I need to do more. In the role I play, you have to be disciplined, think about your teammates and how your actions affect the team. I enjoy carrying the ball. I always tell myself I want to do it as many times as I can during a game.”

So far, Bellingham has featured 42 times for Dortmund, providing four assists.
