FC Bayern has mutated into an attacking machine under Vincent Kompany. Hardly any other team in Europe currently combines power, pace and efficiency as uncompromisingly as the German record champions. This is mainly down to a trio that delivers week in, week out: Harry Kane, Luis Díaz and Michael Olise
the FCB triumvirate already have 115 goals to their name this season – a figure that stands out even by international standards. Kane scores with the precision of a world-class niner, Díaz whirls down the wing and causes constant disruption with his „chaos creativity“, while Olise acts as an ingenious pacemaker between the lines. Together, they have opened up a new dimension in Bayern’s attacking play
In the 5-1 win against Hoffenheim, it was Díaz in particular who shone with his first Bundesliga treble. Kane contributed two converted penalties, Olise shone as a preparer. The trio were also decisive in the DFB Cup against Leipzig: Kane converted from the spot, Olise set up Díaz’s 2-0 in exemplary fashion. It is precisely these games that define great attacking lines

The comparison with Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Neymar may seem bold – and yet it seems obvious. FC Barcelona’s legendary „MSN“ trio scored an incredible 203 goals in the 2015/16 season. A record for eternity? Maybe, but maybe not
At the same point in the season, the Catalans had scored 122 goals – just ten more than the current Bayern trio. The difference: Barcelona were later eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals, which meant that additional games and therefore potential scoring points were lost
Munich are still represented in all competitions: Bundesliga, DFB Cup, Champions League – every additional game is a new stage for Kane, Díaz and Olise. So in purely mathematical terms, hope is still alive
But what makes this trio special is not just the statistics. It’s the way the three of them complement each other. Kane lets himself drop, ties down defenders and opens up spaces. Díaz attacks one-on-one, takes risks and creates gaps. Olise thinks the game one step quicker than many of his opponents
Under Kompany, FC Bayern have found a balance that has long been missing: structured positional play paired with individual brilliance. 112 goal participations are therefore not a product of chance, but the expression of a clear plan
Whether the historic MSN record will actually be broken remains to be seen, but one thing is already clear: this Bayern trio has the potential to write itself into the annals of European soccer. And the season is far from over
