Injured Real Madrid midfielder will not make his comeback vs Real Sociedad | OneFootball

Following the international break, Real Madrid will resume their chase for the La Liga title this weekend with a visit to San Sebastian, where they will face Real Sociedad.

Leading up to the game, there were hopes that Xabi Alonso might recover some of his injured players in time for the trip.

Eduardo Camavinga, in particular, appeared the likeliest to return, having resumed training partially with the rest of the group.

No Camavinga vs Real Sociedad

However, according to Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, Camavinga’s comeback from injury will not take place this weekend against Real Sociedad.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been out since early August when he sustained an ankle injury during pre-season.

The youngster had entered the final phase of his recovery and the plan was for him to be in contention to travel for the Sociedad fixture.

But as per the report, ‘an affection to the syndesmosis’ is delaying the process, meaning his return will not take place at the Reale Arena this weekend.

Real Madrid do not wish to take any risks with Camavinga, who missed the last part of the previous season with an abductor muscle tear and did not feature at the FIFA Club World Cup either.

Meanwhile, the other three injured stars – Jude Bellingham, Ferland Mendy, and Endrick – will also not be available for the Sociedad clash.

Bellingham, like Camavinga, has been training partly with the group but no risks will be taken with his recovery. As for Mendy, mystery remains over his possible return, while Endrick’s comeback might be around the corner.
