AS reports that Valencia expect to start the season without four contracted players, Diego López, Sergi Canós, Dimitri Foulquier and José Copete. Mouctar Diakhaby’s availability is being treated cautiously, though the centre-back is again ahead of schedule and could yet join Corberán’s pre-season.

Each case differs. Diego López will miss the rest of 2026, with February a possible return. Valencia could leave him unregistered in summer and add him in winter, a choice that affects the 25 squad places.

Foulquier and Copete are not expected back before September and October respectively, so they will still be in the final recovery phase once the window shuts. That complicates planning and any potential Foulquier exit, with the full-back contracted to 2027 and out since February. Valencia would need to register both before 1 September, using two of the 25 places despite uncertainty over their returns.

Canós suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in early April to his right knee. The estimated lay-off is six to nine months, so he is effectively out until 2027. The club is not obliged to register a contracted player if the player signs a consent document.

Given Canós is not in the sporting plan, two routes are being considered. One is a negotiated termination of his deal, which runs to 2027, the other would be a dismissal. Either step would come before the summer deadline, allowing him to find a new club as a free agent and register at any point in the season.
