FC Bayern will travel to the Bundesliga top match at Bayer Leverkusen with four young talents. Due to several absences, coach Vincent Kompany will call on young players from the campus – including a goalkeeper who is just 16 years old
The personnel situation at the German record champions means that several talents from the youth academy are suddenly coming into focus. As reported by BILD, Leonard Prescott (16), Jannis Bärtl (19), Maycon Cardozo (17) and Deniz Ofli (18) are in the Munich squad for the away game in Leverkusen
Kompany will have to improvise in goal in particular, with Manuel Neuer missing due to a torn calf muscle fibre and Jonas Urbig due to a concussion, so Sven Ulreich will stand between the posts in the top match
Kompany has nominated two goalkeepers from the youth squad as back-up: Leonard Prescott, who regularly plays for the U19s, is the youngest player in the Bayern squad at just 16 years of age
The second keeper is Jannis Bärtl, who already plays regularly for Bayern II in the regional league. Curious: Bärtl was still in goal for the second team on Friday evening in the 2-2 draw against Memmingen and then had to travel separately to Leverkusen to join the professional team

Both talents have already trained with the first team several times in recent weeks, but have not yet gained any competitive experience in the professional team. Bärtl has been in Munich’s Bundesliga squad twice so far, while Prescott was recently part of the extended squad for the first time in the 6-1 Champions League win over Atalanta Bergamo
Maycon Cardozo is already a little further along in his development. The 17-year-old attacking player recently made his professional debut for FC Bayern
In the 4-1 home win against Borussia Mönchengladbach, the Brazilian talent came on as a substitute around half an hour before the end of the match, giving him his first taste of Bundesliga action
Cardozo is regarded as one of the most exciting talents on the Bayern campus and is one of the players who is expected to have a great future
The fourth teenager in the squad is Deniz Ofli, the Turkish left-back who also plays for Bayern II but has recommended himself for higher tasks with his strong performances
His call-up is also linked to the current injury problems at left-back, with both Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito currently out with muscle injuries
Although Ofli was already part of the matchday squad in the 4-0 win over Heidenheim at the end of 2025, he is still waiting for his first competitive match minutes
Should Kompany give one of the youngsters a chance, the top match in Leverkusen could therefore become a very special career moment for several Campus talents.
