Manchester United are keeping close tabs on RB Leipzig teenager Yan Diomande, who is considered one of the best prospects in Europe at the moment.

The 19-year-old was born and raised in the Ivory Coast, but started his career in the United States at the academies of Yulee Hornets and DME. In January 2025, he entered the European scene through the gates of Leganes and swiftly managed to grab the limelight, especially following a particularly delightful performance against Real Madrid.

Last summer, RB Leipzig splashed €20 million to secure his services after receiving the nod of approval from Jurgen Klopp.

Since then, he has established himself as one of the most exciting players in the Bundesliga and has also been labelled as the best product for the Red Bull system since Man City striker Erling Haaland. This season, has contributed with eight goals and six assists in 21 appearances for the German club.

Man Utd eyeing a move for Yan Diomande

As reported earlier today, David Ornstein confirmed that Man Utd’s plans for next summer include signing a new left winger, especially after missing out on Antoine Semenyo last month.

Last summer, United shelled out £62.5 million on Matheus Cunha, who has been justifying this figure with his impressive displays. Nonetheless, the club still needs an additional option down the left flank, having parted ways with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.

According to Manchester World reporter Rich Fay, Diomande is an early favourite for this role.

It should also be noted that Fabrizio Romano had revealed that Man Utd and Tottenham are among several European clubs that scouted Diomande this season.

What Diomande would add to United’s squad

With his blistering pace and effortless ability to skip past his marker, the young Ivorian has been an absolute menace for opposition players.

In a past interview, Diomande revealed that, despite his academy training, he remains a street player at heart.

“I played in the streets. I still play when I go home – sometimes with friends. I like to say: I left the streets, but the streets did not leave me. It is still part of me,” said the Abidjan native.

Moreover, Diomande is a good friend of Amad Diallo, who would help him adjust to life at Carrington. The two wingers play on opposite flanks for the Ivorian national team, causing havoc for their opponents.

While we can expect several twists and turns between now and the summer, the Leipzig wonderkid is certainly one to keep a close eye on in the coming months.
