The disastrous performance and the red card in the World Cup playoff won’t deter Barcelona from going after Alessandro Bastoni, as they continue to hold him in high regard, and they are furthering their contacts with his camp, while the talks with Inter are not that advanced for now and require some patience. There’s no agreement on his valuation for the time being, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta).
According to TuttoSport (via Record), a €50M bid, which has been rumored in Spain, won’t be enough to satisfy the Nerazzurri. The Serie A giants demand around €70M and could eventually settle for a €60M proposal plus robust bonuses. They are lukewarm on all potential makeweights, such as Gerard Martin, Dani Olmo, or Ferran Torres. The Blaugrana are also keen on Andrea Cambiaso, who might be a more attainable target.
Per Gianluca Di Marzio (via Calciomercato), Inter would ask Barcelona for far more than the sums suggested if they decided to cash in on Bastoni. Given their difficulties in completing deals due to financial constraints over the past few years, it’ll be tough for the Catalonians to meet the request.
The defender is under contract until 2028 and makes €5.5M. He joined from Atalanta for €31M back in 2019. His initial cost has basically been completely amortized.
The chatter has been intense, but the door is still open for the whole shebang to be just a gambit by his agents to obtain a new and richer deal, as his present one isn’t long-term. More teams, especially Premier League ones, would be in on him if he were really available for certain.
