Inter Miami lifted the MLS Cup with a 3-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps, yet attention has swung to Tadeo Allende’s future. According to interheron.com, Celta de Vigo have offered him to River Plate as his loan expires, Marcelo Gallardo has approved the signing, and Miami have initiated talks with the Spanish club to keep him.

Miami struck early but then struggled to contain the Caps’ attack. Vancouver hit the woodwork three times in one move, and after a bright first half from Lionel Messi, the visitors denied him space to create.

Despite the wobble, Miami claimed their first MLS Cup, although the celebration is tempered by uncertainty around a striker who has won over the fanbase.

Allende delivered a record postseason, scoring nine times to surpass Carlos Ruiz’s mark of eight from 2002 and become the leading scorer in MLS playoff history.

The former Godoy Cruz forward started unevenly, missing chances that might have altered the Supporters’ Shield race, but he arrived when the season demanded it. That reliability is what Javier Mascherano would miss, a young forward who steps up when Messi is contained and who offers clear MLS upside. It would be silly for the Más brothers and David Beckham not to try to keep him for a few more years, and he could be the future alongside Silvetti, Bright and Fray.
