Inter Milan solidified their position at the top of the Serie A table with a hard-fought 1-0 home victory over bottom-half Lecce.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the win takes the Nerazzurri’s points total to 45 at the halfway mark of the season.

Despite entering the match as odds-on favorites to bounce back from Sunday’s home draw against Napoli, Inter struggled to find a breakthrough.

Indeed, Eusebio Di Francesco’s defense stood firm for over 75 minutes, giving the San Siro giants a run for their money.

However, second-half substitute Francesco Pio Esposito broke the deadlock in the 78th minute with his first home goal of the season.

Esposito’s goal helped Inter extend their lead over second-placed AC Milan to six points ahead of the Rossoneri’s trip to Como tonight.

Furthermore, Cristian Chivu’s men have reached a 45-point mark midway through the season en route to being crowned winter champions.

As a result, they’ve taken another massive step toward winning their 21st Scudetto.

Yet, there’s no room for complacency. Inter will resume their title pursuit on Saturday with a must-win away clash against mid-table Udinese.
