Inter took advantage of Napoli’s 2-0 defeat at Bologna to overtake the reigning champions in the table with a 2-0 home win over Lazio.

However, Cristian Chivu’s charges are not alone at the top, with Roma trailing the Nerazzurri on goal difference.

Meanwhile, Lautaro Martinez scored his fourth Serie A goal of the season, ending his three-game scoring drought in league action.

Indeed, El Toro opened the scoring in the third minute with a sublime finish, netting his eighth career goal against Lazio.

Then, backup striker Ange-Yoan Bonny sealed the Biancocelesti’s fate at San Siro midway through the second half.

Overall, it was Inter’s 11th win in their last 12 matches, except for a controversial 3-1 defeat to Napoli.

“Inter is far too strong,” Vieri admitted after the game. “They started brilliantly.

“They also scored thanks to Bonny, and it’s important that the third and fourth forwards keep scoring regularly.

“Thuram can recover calmly.”

Then, he praised Lazio’s effort, maintaining it wasn’t enough to match Inter’s high level.

“Lazio played a very good match,” he added. “They could have scored, but Inter is just far too strong.”

Furthermore, he waxed lyrical about Federico Dimarco, who registered his fourth assist of the season.

“Federico Dimarco was very good, awarded as man of the match. Nobody crosses better than Dimarco in Europe,” he stated.

“I don’t see anyone who puts in 3‑4 times per match balls like that, I have never seen it in twenty years.”

Finally, Vieri backed Lautaro to join a select club of Inter legends who have scored 200+ goals for the club.
