Wingback Federico Dimarco started for Inter Milan in yesterday’s Serie A clash with Udinese.

The 27-year-old had a highly impressive display. He assisted both of Inter’s goals in the 2-1 win.

Dimarco had been on the sidelines for a few matches just before the international break.

The Italian international picked up a thigh strain during Inter’s match against Napoli at the start of March.

But the international break presented a perfect opportunity for Dimarco to make his returnm.

DImarco’s return means that Inter Milan have both numbers and quality back in the wingback position.

This will be crucial in the last couple months of the season. It promises to be an intense run-in for Inter, who are fighting on three fronts – in addition to having the Club World Cup on the way.

However, as Dimarco reveals, it was not easy for him to make his return so soon.

The 27-year-old explained, “I tried to train two or three times a day, to return as soon as possible.”

“And to come back at my best,” he added.

Meanwhile, Federico Dimarco gave his thoughts on yesterday evening’s win over Udinese. “We suffered a bit in the last part of the match,” he admitted.

“But that’s football.”

“You concede one goal, and then the match is right back in the balance.”

“But in the end we got an important win,” said Dimarco. “It was important for us to return to action like this, and we’re happy with it.”

Meanwhile, Dimarco tried to be objective about Inter’s upcoming Coppa Italia semifinal first leg against city rivals AC Milan.

“All matches are important,” the Italian international said. “Whether it’s the derby, or the match against Parma next weekend.”

“You have to focus on one match at a time,” Dimarco made clear.
