Inter Milan are in pole position to sign Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

With Spurs languishing in 16th place and embroiled in a desperate survival battle, the 29-year-old shot-stopper is believed to be pushing for a return to Serie A to revive a career that has stalled during a turbulent 2025/26 campaign.

The Nerazzurri have identified Vicario as their primary long-term successor to veteran Yann Sommer, whose contract at the Giuseppe Meazza expires in June.

Vicario’s relationship with Tottenham has reportedly deteriorated following a series of inconsistent performances.

The ongoing animosity was evident during Tottenham’s Champions League round-of-16 first leg against Atletico Madrid, where Vicario was dropped in favour of 22-year-old deputy Antonin Kinsky.

However, that decision backfired for Spurs, who found themselves three goals down—two of which Kinsky was responsible for—inside the opening 15 minutes en route to a 5-2 defeat.

Kinsky’s horror show in Madrid saw him substituted off in tears after 17 minutes and all but confirms Vicario as Spurs’ undisputed number one for the remainder of the season. Still, a move away remains firmly on the cards.

While Juventus and Monaco are also monitoring the situation, Inter remain frontrunners to land Vicario, as he prefers a move to Milan and had previously agreed personal terms with the Italian champions before eventually joining Tottenham after his departure from Empoli.

Meanwhile, Vicario is not the only Spurs goalkeeper who could be on his way out of North London, with Kinsky also expected to depart this summer.
