Inter Milan legend Christian Vieri has urged the Nerazzurri to stop complaining about injuries, backing Luis Henrique as a credible solution during Denzel Dumfries’ absence.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908, Christian Vieri dismissed the idea that Inter’s struggles in big matches stem from deeper issues.
“Let’s start from the table: Inter are top, and that must mean something,” he said.
“These defeats come from small but costly lapses. Chivu will fix them. His team almost always controls games, but when they lose the ball they often suffer on the counter. They must be more focused there, in the key areas of the pitch, but they are still the best team in the league, I’m convinced of that.”
On the right-flank emergency caused by Dumfries’ injury, Vieri was blunt. “Without Dumfries… there’s no point complaining,” he said.
“That applies to every team, not just Napoli or Inter. Stop crying. Squads are deep. Injuries are part of football and people only mention them when they lose.”

Rather than looking to the market, Vieri believes Inter should commit fully to Luis Henrique. “Regardless of transfers, Inter should give Luis Henrique full trust,” he argued.
“You can see he’s strong. He just needs continuity, which he’s finally getting. There’s a time for everything, and this is his moment to prove he’s a top player.”
The former striker also praised Inter’s attacking depth. “I wish I had four forwards like that,” he said.
“It’s better to have four players who score ten goals each than one who scores twenty. Even though, as always, Lautaro will score loads. The great thing is the variety of options: beyond him and Thuram, Pio and Bonny give you real security.”
Addressing Bonny’s difficult moment, Vieri showed empathy.
“He has huge talent, but now he’s discovering what playing for a top club means. There’s always pressure. You miss a penalty and suddenly everything becomes a problem. But when you don’t win, people latch onto anything.”
Finally, Vieri rejected comparisons between himself and Pio Esposito. “Anyone who says he’s the new Vieri doesn’t understand much,” he said.
“They used to call me the new Boninsegna. Pio has different traits. Physically, he’s closer to Toni.”
Still, he urged patience.
“He’s doing well when he plays, but he’s very young. Last year he was at Spezia in Serie B. That’s a huge leap. He has the right mentality and he’s in the right place. Whether he explodes now or later depends only on him, I’m not Harry Potter.”
